Ogun 2023: Amosun Unveils Plan To Scuttle Dapo Abiodun’s Second Term Ambition

With just about 200 days to the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, all seems not well politically between the immediate past Govermor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his successor, Prince Dapo Abiodun as the former made a shocking declaration that he would scuttle Abiodun’s second term bid under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Owu, Abeokuta-born Amosun, who was two term Governor of the state between 2011 and 2019, but currently representing Ogun Central in the Senate, revealed this, while featuring on a BBC Yoruba programme.

Senator Amosun declared that he would mobilize the teeming members of the APC as well as the people of Ogun State to vote for the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but that he would never support Abiodun for second term.

Senator Amosun declared that rather than supporting Dapo Abiodun he would mobilize vote for the Governorship Candidate of the ADC, Mr. Biyi Otegbeye with a vow to ensure that Abiodun is defeated in the race.

According to Senator Amosun, “for the presidential election, I am sure all the factions in Ogun State, even if you say we have three or four factions, in my mind we have a single candidate. I want to believe that all of us have the same focus on the presidential election.

“But for the Governorship election it is going to be a different ball game, I don’t agree with the APC and I won’t support the party or its governorship candidate.”

Gov Amosun based his decision on the fact that the present administration in the state, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun has not been treating his followers well, adding that things are not the way it should be in day to day running of the state.
