Kano Records 60 months without Polio, says Ganduje

The Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has urged Kano populace to remain committed towards complimenting government efforts in fighting polio.

Dr. Ganduje made the disclosure on Sunday during the flag-off ceremony of August 2019 National Immunization plus days (NIPDs) held at Tsalle town in Gezawa Local Government Area.

He said this amidst the celebration of 60 months without a fresh outbreak of polio in Kano.

Adding that previous exercises were profoundly achieved by the government through the seamless co-operation and solid commitment given by people.

“It is obviously cleared that 60 months without any newly reported case of polio, is a welcoming development which was celebrated by all and sundry he added.

He urged parents, guardian, as well as caregivers to supports government efforts in the course of branding Nigeria free-polio country.

Earlier, in his remark, the permanent secretary, State ministry of health, Usman Bala said the state government has done a lot towards bringing the virus down to its knees through tireless routine immunisation exercises blended with a massive campaign of public enlightenment to keep people abreast of the need to immunised their children of poliomyelitis.

During the events, the representatives of Kano, Gaya and Rano emirates urged parents not to relent in supporting governments commitment to eradicate the menace poliovirus in Kano and the nation at large.
