An Islamic cleric in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital has been caught with various human parts, including the placenta of a newborn baby girl whom he officiated at her naming ceremony the previous day.
The suspect, Alfa Gani was arrested yesterday after it was discovered that he had various forms of human parts in his residence at Ogidi Area in Laduba Community. His neighbours were disgusted at the overpowering foul air hovering around his house, and sought to know what was responsible from him. His explanation was said to have lacked merit and they insisted on conducting a search.
Source gathered that Alfa Gani who was visibly angry, claiming the neighbours were invading his privacy ran to Oloje Police Station to lodge a complaint.

However, before his arrival with a policeman, his neighbours and several other people in the area had gathered and gained entrance into his house. They were confronted with a boy burning a placenta. There were also human skulls, hands and legs concealed in the house.

The boy was beaten but pleaded to be spared claiming he was ordered by his boss, Alfa Gani to prepare a charm with the placenta.
In the middle of the confusion, a woman whose baby’s naming ceremony took place recently rushed to the point where the baby’s placenta was buried only to discover that it was no longer there.

She was said to have raised alarm. It was gathered that the enraged mob vandalised Gani’s house and set it on fire but were prevented from doing further damage by the quickly intervention of the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident.

He said: “The man was looking for a placenta of a new baby, exhumed the buried placenta and used it for whatever yet-to-be identified purpose.

“He just came back from jail. He went to where a placenta was just buried about three days ago before the incident. He dug up the placenta and while he was doing that, people saw him and tried to do things their own way.“The police have started investigation to get to the root of the matter.”
