The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb (UK), on Thursday undertook a working visit to Sokoto State, where he commissioned the newly constructed access road to the Sadiq Abubakar III International Airport.

As part of the visit, the minister also laid the foundation for the construction of a new protocol lounge at the airport, underscoring the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s aviation infrastructure.

Keyamo was received by the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, in an event that coincided with the Governor’s second anniversary in office. The occasion symbolized growing collaboration between federal and state governments in delivering critical infrastructure projects.

“This airport is not just a gateway to Sokoto, but to the entire North-Western region,” Keyamo said. “These infrastructure upgrades are crucial for enhancing passenger experience and facilitating regional development.”

The Minister was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, along with senior directors from the Authority.

Also present at the event were traditional rulers, government officials, aviation industry stakeholders, and members of the media.

The visit, according to Keyamo’s media adviser, Tunde Moshood, reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to investing in aviation as a catalyst for economic growth, regional integration, and national pride.
