In a bid to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance road safety before, during and after  the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has deployed 627 personnel to strategic locations across the state.
The deployment was part of OYRTMA’s efforts to minimize congestion and prevent accidents, with personnel stationed at key points, including major highways, market areas, and popular tourist spots.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adesagba Adekoya (Rtd.), in his office at the State Secretariat, Ibadan.
He urged motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid night traveling, and exercise caution on the roads.
“We have zero tolerance for traffic management impunity,” Adekoya warned, citing reckless driving, overloading, and speeding as common causes of road traffic accidents.
Adesagba also reminded okada (motorcycle) and tricycle riders to register for QR-coded jackets, warning that unregistered riders will not be allowed to operate from February 2026.
He also reminded the public to report any traffic-related issues to OYRTMA’s 24-hour hotline: 0704 700 0594 or 0912 888 8878.”
He therefore extended Christmas felicitations to the Christian brethren and wished all residents a safe and joyous festive season.
