The Chief Executive Officer of Hands of Love Foundation, Mrs. Gloria Ukagwu has revealed why she dedicated her birthday to cater for the needs of the less privileged in the society, most especially children that are living with disabilities.

During a chat with journalists in her newly procured multi-million naira office at Haven House, Anfani Layout Ibadan, Oyo State, the notable philanthropist disclosed that her next birthday which holds on November 18 at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, will feature distribution of food items, house hold equipment, and women empowerment, which according to her, is aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the downtrodden women in the society.
She disclosed that her passion to cater for the people with disabilities and women informed her decision to celebrate with them and that she intends to gather resources from her friends, who would have given her what she already has if she threw a lavish birthday party.
“The day is not about me, but about children with disabilities and less privileged women. If it’s about me, I can use my money to travel out of the country to enjoy my birthday, but what is the essence of leaving behind those who cannot afford what to eat.
“That is why I am using this opportunity to call on wealthy Nigerians to partner with us to reach out to the needy,  it’s what we have been doing and we have identified millions of people in this category since we began the programme some years ago,” she said.
While revealing that millions of naira will be spent to cater for the children, she called on people to support her with their old clothes,  mattress, buckets cooking pots and other household materials.
She stated that her request for support from Nigerians is to give them the opportunity to partake in the blessings that is associated with giving and to enable more children with disabilities benefit from the offer.
She however, urged whoever wanted to be part of the project to contact her office at Haven House Anfani Layout, Ibadan or call 08027266622, 08081544600
“We are actually looking for foods items to be distributed and that’s where we want the people to come in so that it can be distributed to people that needs them,” she said.
Mrs. Ukagwu added that the actual target is 500 to 1000 children with disabilities and about 100 women to be empowered.
While speaking about the security arrangements,  she hinted that policemen and other security agencies have been contacted to secure lives and properties.
