We Are Revolutionising Agriculture To Ensure Food Sufficiency In Nigeria-Tinubu

As part of the Nigerian Government’s plans to boost agricultural productivity through diverse initiatives, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that his administration is revolutionising agriculture to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and net exporter of agricultural products.
President Tinubu affirmed this, when he received a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, Sunday, February 11, 2024, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, FCT.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Presidential Spokesman, stated that Tinubu also said that his administration would support plans and efforts to give ease and succour to Hajj pilgrims.
The Nigerian leader equally stressed the importance of spiritual endeavours in nation-building, while underscoring his administration’s commitment to supporting religious activities in the West African country.
He further highlighted the need for collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance the Nigeria’s interests and promote unity among the people.
On agriculture, low-interest loans and irrigation infrastructure
The President, on the occasion, also outlined plans to bolster agricultural productivity through various initiatives, including the expansion of farmlands, the provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and significant investments in irrigation infrastructure.
Tinubu said: “We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage.
“Nigeria will become a net-exporter of food. We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanisation.
“We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding.”
The President commended the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their support and prayers, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in building a better Nigeria.
Sheikh Mahe Niass, the Khalifa of Tijaniyya, speaking on behalf of the delegation, lauded President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to peace, progress and stability in the country.
Sheikh Niass expressed confidence in the President’s leadership as he conveyed the fervent support and prayers of members of the Global Tijaniyya Movement to the Nigerian leader.
The visiting delegation as well offered prayers for the Nigeria’s progress, unity and prosperity, and for Almighty Allah to grant President Tinubu wisdom, strength and success, stated the Presidential media aide.
