The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the brutal killing of Mr. Adeniran Ezekiel Imoleayo, Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, in what appears to be a premeditated murder.

According to police sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the tragic incident occurred on July 16 at the victim’s residence in the Olopa to Di Woli area along Ondo Road, Akure.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Adeniran had stepped out of his house to investigate a strange noise coming from his rooftop when he was accosted by two unidentified men emerging from a nearby bush. The assailants reportedly overpowered him and forcefully administered a liquid substance suspected to be poison before fleeing the scene.

The victim was later discovered unconscious by his driver, Mr. Olowoyo Odunayo Adewale, who immediately rushed him to the Police Hospital in Akure. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical officer.

The deceased’s body has since been deposited at Divine Haven Mortuary in Akure for preservation and autopsy. Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) have visited the crime scene as part of an ongoing investigation.

In a swift response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area led a tactical patrol team to a suspected hideout where one suspect was arrested. The individual has been handed over to the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further interrogation.

The Ondo State Police Command assured the public that a thorough and discreet investigation is underway to apprehend all those involved and bring them to justice.
