Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, with support from t he Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), have neutralised several key Boko Haram commanders during coordinated airstrikes in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the airstrikes were carried out on December 25, 2025, following actionable human intelligence on the movement and concentration of terrorist elements in the area.

According to the sources, no fewer than 10 Boko Haram fighters were killed in the initial strike. Those neutralised were identified as Abul Kaka, Ibn Mu’azu, Abu Muhammad, Ba Alhaji, Bakura, Modu, Abu Hassan, Kaka Alai, Abba Yakariye and Bamusa. Another terrorist, identified as Ubaida, reportedly sustained severe injuries during the operation.

The sources added that a follow-up strike by Nigerian Air Force assets resulted in the immediate killing of three additional terrorists.

Security officials confirmed that most of the neutralised fighters were loyal to Bafu, a notorious Boko Haram commander operating within the Bama axis.

A post-operation assessment indicated that the strikes significantly degraded Boko Haram’s operational and fighting capabilities in Bama, particularly among factions under Bafu’s command, as a direct result of the sustained air campaign.

While the general security situation in the area remains calm, the sources cautioned that it is still considered unpredictable due to the fluid nature of insurgent activities.
