In a major triumph for Nigeria’s counterterrorism campaign, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralized more than 50 terrorists and successfully repelled a series of coordinated attacks on multiple military bases across Borno and Yobe States.

Military authorities described the overnight assaults launched between midnight and 4 a.m. on Thursday as one of the most intense and wide-ranging offensives by insurgents in recent months. The attacks targeted troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, all within Sectors 1 and 2 of the Joint Operations Area.

According to Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East (OPHK), the soldiers displayed exceptional bravery and tactical precision in the face of sustained enemy fire.

“In all instances, troops stood firm, fought gallantly, and professionally repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy, decisive, and bloody blow,” Lt.-Col. Uba stated in a release from Maiduguri.”

Military sources say the operation dealt one of the biggest setbacks to insurgents in 2025, reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s control of the volatile northeast corridor.
