Tragedy in Abuja: Two Co-Wives Hospitalized After Using Contaminated Aphrodisiac ‘Kayamata’ to Regain Husband’s Affection

A Disturbing incident has emerged from the Dakwa community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, where two co-wives were hospitalized after ingesting a tainted aphrodisiac, popularly known as Kayamata, in an attempt to rekindle their husband’s interest following his marriage to a younger third wife.

The two women, whose identities remain undisclosed, reportedly turned to a native herbalist after their husband, Musa Muhammad, took a new bride from Gusau, Zamfara State, and moved her into a separate apartment. Feeling neglected and desperate to regain his attention, the co-wives allegedly sought a powerful herbal mixture designed to make them irresistible.

However, the plan backfired tragically. Shortly after ingesting the powdered substance, the women began to experience severe abdominal pain and collapsed. Upon returning home, Musa Muhammad found them convulsing on the floor. After a frantic confession, he rushed them to a private clinic in Madalla, Niger State, where they underwent emergency medical treatment for suspected internal organ damage.

Medical personnel at the clinic have since warned about the increasing health risks associated with unregulated traditional aphrodisiacs. Experts cite a rise in cases involving organ failure, hormonal imbalances, and toxic reactions due to the unchecked nature of such concoctions.

The herbalist who supplied the substance is reportedly on the run, and local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Efforts are underway to locate and prosecute the individual responsible.

This alarming case highlights the dangers of relying on unverified traditional remedies and the psychological strain that often accompanies rivalry in polygamous households. As the investigation unfolds, health officials are urging the public to prioritize medically approved treatments and avoid harmful practices rooted in desperation.
