President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, signaling a bold step to consolidate ongoing fiscal and tax reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economic foundation.

Oyedele’s nomination, conveyed to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, will see him replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite in the Finance Ministry.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State — her third portfolio in the administration — reflecting the President’s continued confidence in her capacity to serve.
Until his nomination, Oyedele, a native of Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system designed to enhance efficiency, fairness, and revenue generation.

An accomplished economist, accountant, and public policy expert, the 50-year-old Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

He has further sharpened his expertise through executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Oyedele devoted 22 years of his professional career to PwC, where he joined in 2001 and rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

He is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
The nomination underscores President Tinubu’s determination to deepen structural reforms, expand the revenue base, and sustain economic stability through credible and experienced leadership in the nation’s finance architecture.
