Tinubu Delivers On Promise: Super Eagles Receive Houses, Land Titles & National Honours

Members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles (Class of 2024) have officially received the national honours certificates and title documents to houses and land allocations promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, following their runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The presentation took place on December 22, 2025, at the team’s hotel in Fez, Morocco, ahead of their opening match in the new AFCON campaign. The delegation was led by Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, alongside key stakeholders including Senate and House Committee chairmen on Sports, the Comptroller-General of Customs, the NFF President, and other senior government officials.
Shehu Dikko clarified that all players received the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), except Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen, who were awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), having previously received MON. Captain William Troost-Ekong was honoured with the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in recognition of his Player of the Tournament award.
Dikko confirmed that housing allocations in Abuja or Lagos, land grants in Abuja, and the national honours were fully processed, with allocation letters issued in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to rewarding excellence and national service.
He further disclosed that similar rewards—houses, national honours, and cash awards equivalent to $100,000—approved for the Super Falcons and D’Tigers have also been processed, with cash payments nearing completion.
The gesture underscores a renewed focus on athlete welfare, accountability, and institutional follow-through, as the Super Eagles shift attention back to the pitch in pursuit of AFCON glory.
