President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State today to witness the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The President’s entrance was greeted with loud cheers from a large gathering of dignitaries and residents, adding glamour to the week-long series of activities marking the installation of the new monarch.

His attendance, alongside other prominent figures, highlights the national significance of the ceremony as Ibadan ushers in a new era under its revered traditional institution.

Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and senator, was chosen to succeed the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7. The 81-year-old, a respected statesman and businessman, ascended the throne after steadily rising through the traditional Olubadan line of succession.

The Olubadan stool remains the apex of Ibadan’s traditional leadership and a symbol of Yoruba culture, history, and influence across West Africa.
