“This Too Shall Pass”: Lagos APC Urges Calm, Says ‘Saboteurs Will Fail’ As Tinubu Intensifies Security, Economic Reforms

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and steadfast amid what it described as “temporary challenges” being amplified by a “desperate and unpatriotic opposition.” The party said the nation is navigating a difficult moment but insisted that “this too shall pass.”

In a statement issued on Friday by its spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the party said Nigeria has historically emerged stronger from periods of recession, insecurity, and political sabotage and will do so again under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Lagos APC defended the President’s recent moves to overhaul national security, describing them as bold and unprecedented. It highlighted the declaration of a State of Emergency on Security and the approval for the recruitment of 20,000 additional police officers, bringing the total new intakes under Tinubu to 50,000, the largest expansion in decades.

“These are not cosmetic gestures,” the statement read. “These are strategic, far-reaching actions by a President who refuses to surrender one inch of Nigerian territory to terrorists or their political sponsors.”

The party accused opposition elements of downplaying the government’s progress in security operations, noting that rescue missions are underway, criminal networks are being dismantled, and “saboteurs” within the system are being uncovered.

The APC said recent statements predicting unrest by some opposition figures coincidentally preceded targeted attacks, raising questions about insider links to criminal groups.

“How do terrorists suddenly strike with precision minutes after certain politicians issue ‘prophecies’ of unrest?” the party queried, alleging that some actors were feeding bandits intelligence for political gains.

The party also accused opposition groups of seeking foreign intervention through petitions and sponsored reports, saying their “shopping for sympathy abroad” is a sign of political desperation.

“Nigeria is not a playground for expired politicians,” the statement declared.

On economic hardship, the APC argued that the current difficulties are transitional and stem from the dismantling of entrenched subsidy and forex cartels.

“The temporary discomfort Nigerians are experiencing today is the unavoidable price of dismantling decades-old economic sabotage,” the party said.

It listed gains including rising government revenue, renewed investment interest, agricultural expansion, and the revival of industrial activity.

Assuring citizens that better days lie ahead, the Lagos APC reaffirmed its confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.

“The storm is temporary, the discomfort is transitional, and the nation’s destiny is firmly in the hands of a capable, courageous, and battle-ready President,” it said.
“This too shall pass. The saboteurs will fail. Nigeria will rise stronger than ever.”
