The Nigerian Society Of Engineers Inaugurates 14-Member Executive In Rivers

The Port Harcourt Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Rivers State, has inaugurated a 14-member executive committee to steer the affairs of the branch for the 2025/2026 year, with Engr. Belema Fubara Ekine, FNSE, emerging as the 23rd Chairman.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Engr. Ishmael A. Branch Secretariat, 3 Benard Carr Street (Waterworks Yard), Port Harcourt, and was attended by members of the engineering profession from within and outside the state.

In a goodwill message, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Hon. Frederick Anabraba, urged the new executive to uphold high ethical standards and advance the association’s objectives in line with professional best practices.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Ekine pledged to run an inclusive and transparent administration anchored on teamwork and strategic collaboration. He disclosed that the branch had already begun building partnerships with the Rivers State University and the University of Port Harcourt to strengthen research, innovation, and capacity development within the engineering profession.

The highlight of the event was an inauguration lecture titled, “Engineering Solutions for Security, Energy Access and Sustainable Development,” delivered by Engr. Victor Bandele, Deputy Managing Director, Deepwater Assets, TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited, who underscored the critical role of engineering in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, expanding energy access, and driving sustainable national development.
