Terror attack: US tells EgyptAir not to carry packages on passenger aircraft

U.S. authorities have requested Egypt’s national carrier not to carry express mail parcels and goods on its flights to the U.S., an EgyptAir official said on Thursday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said EgyptAir would comply with the request.

EgyptAir operates five flights each week to New York and it does not serve other U.S. destinations

“Passengers will be allowed to have their entire luggage aboard the planes.

“Only freight packages will be transported on separate cargo aircraft,’’ he said.

On Oct. 31, a Russian passenger jet crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula shortly after taking off from the popular Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, killing all 224 people on board.

Moscow confirmed on Tuesday that the Airbus A321 was brought down by a terrorist bomb.
