Sunday Dare Responds To Peter Obi’s Remarks on Recent Tragedies

When seeking someone who thrives on the misfortune of others or confusion, what the Yoruba people aptly describe as ‘Aríje nínú Màdàrú,’ one need look no further than Peter Obi.
His recent remarks regarding the avoidable tragedies in Anambra and Oyo States are a disappointing display of poor statesmanship and lack of decency.
These comments, made while he clings to the fading aura of his once-celebrated political achievements, are nothing more than a failed attempt to score cheap political points.
True leaders rise above politics in moments of tragedy to demonstrate compassion, solidarity, and support. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu exemplified this when he cancelled all engagements, expressed profound sadness over the loss of lives, and ordered an immediate investigation into the incidents. This is the mark of genuine leadership.
The unfortunate events in Anambra and Oyo States serve as a sobering reminder of critical issues that require urgent attention. The government recognises its responsibility to create a safe and conducive environment and is committed to addressing economic challenges swiftly to improve the standard of living for every Nigerian.
However, it is essential to emphasise the need for patience, orderliness, proper crowd management, and the enforcement of necessary permits for public events. While the government has its duties, citizens must also fulfil their responsibilities.
The ongoing reforms this administration initiated have already yielded positive results. Soon, Nigerians will witness the transformative impacts of these efforts, reaffirming the Renewed Hope agenda for a brighter, more prosperous future.
