Concerned about the tension and emotions that trailed removal of Hon. Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker by 37 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on January 13, 2025,  a Group under the aegis of “Women Lawyers In Politics” has called on  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu  and other well meaning Nigerians to intervene and resolve the crisis amicably in order to avert looming danger.
President of the Group, Barrister Abimbola Badiya Jack, who dropped this hint during a solidarity visit to the new Speaker, Rt. Hon Mojisola Meranda on Tuesday in Lagos, said that resolution has become necessary in order to allow peace to reign and forestall the danger signal.
Barrister Jack noted that it is only under a peaceful atmosphere that members of the House, led by the first female Speaker, could legislate properly.
“As a gender group of Women and Mothers, we are worried about the prevailing crisis over Speakership and the looming signals if not properly handled
“It could get to a stage when we would not allow our Children and Husband’s not to go out for fear that they may be attacked”, the President declared.
In her remarks, the Secretary of the group, Omawunmi Ogungiabi appreciated every member of the House that supported the first female Speaker.
Responding, the Deputy Speaker of the assembly, Hon. Fatai Mojeed said that there was no need for any apprehension  as 39 out of 40 members resolved to remove the former Speaker.
He assured the group that the issues would be resolved amicably.
