The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said the reports circulating on some online platforms and blogs were entirely untrue and contrary to the reality of the relationship between the two governors.
According to the statement, Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun enjoy a cordial and brotherly relationship and remain united by a shared commitment to the development of their respective states.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu enjoy a very cordial brotherly relationship,” the statement read.
Akosile noted that both leaders interact regularly and maintain frequent communication on issues of mutual interest, particularly given the close geographical proximity of Lagos and Ogun states and their shared socio-cultural ties.
He added that the two states share common boundaries and economic interests, making collaboration and cooperation between their governments both natural and necessary.
The Lagos State Government further warned individuals and groups spreading what it described as fake news to desist from attempts to sow discord between the two governors.
“The two leaders are bound by a common vision to improve the quality of life of their people and remain focused on delivering good governance,” the statement said.
