Protesting Staff Are Not Our Employees -Dangote Group

Management of Dangote Group of Companies has denied the allegation that some employees, who on Tuesday protested over unpaid salaries were staff of the company.

The organisation said in a statement that the report currently circulating in the media was not a true reflection of what transpired.

“Our attention has been drawn to an issue on social media alleging that staff protest at the Refinery over salary increment dispute.

Contrary to what is being circulated on social media, the protesters are not staff of Dangote Refinery, they are direct employees of Onshore, Offshore (Oil) and Chemie-Tech subcontractors, who are currently dealing with an industrial dispute with their employees,” the organisation said in a statement.

The organisation added in the statement that the situation was under control and that they were mediating with the parties involved.

An online media platform had reported that workers at a Dangote Group factory in Ibeju-Lekki were protesting months of unpaid wages when police officers were called in.

It was added that “a man has been feared killed after police officers responded to a protest with live rounds in Lagos, witnesses said on Tuesday.”
