President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Nigerian Muslims and the global Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging citizens to embrace the core values of the festival—sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness—as Nigeria continues its journey toward economic recovery and national transformation.

In a heartfelt message, the President described Eid-el-Kabir as a period of spiritual significance that marks the high point of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, calling it “a time to express gratitude to Almighty Allah for His countless mercies on us as individuals and as a nation.”

He noted that while the festival is traditionally marked with joy and celebration, its deeper meaning lies in its call to reflect on the examples of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who exemplified absolute submission to God’s will.

“To truly honour Eid, we must embody these virtues—sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness—just as Prophet Ibrahim did. This sacred occasion should renew our collective commitment to these ideals,” Tinubu stated.

Addressing the nation’s current socioeconomic challenges, the President acknowledged the difficulties many Nigerians have faced amid ongoing reforms. However, he reassured citizens that the most challenging phase is over, saying: “We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity, just as we promised two years ago.”

He affirmed that economic indicators are beginning to show signs of recovery, with reforms gaining traction and positioning the country for sustainable development.

“The ultimate goal of these reforms is not merely statistical improvement but real transformation in people’s lives,” he said. “There are no quick fixes, but we are laying the foundations for lasting prosperity.”

President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the resilience and faith of the Nigerian people, stating that their support and perseverance have been crucial in weathering the storm. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to bring inclusive growth and prosperity to every Nigerian.

As part of his message, the President also addressed recent humanitarian concerns, particularly the May 28 flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State, which resulted in loss of lives and property. He extended his condolences to the victims’ families and called for collective support in providing relief to affected communities.

“Let us pray for the souls of the departed and support the government’s efforts to bring succour to the people of Mokwa,” he urged.

He also called for continued prayers for the nation’s security forces and leaders at all levels, encouraging Nigerians to dedicate the Eid celebration to seeking divine guidance, national unity, and global peace amid rising uncertainties around the world.

“As we celebrate, may we show compassion and generosity to those in need. Let us allow the virtues of sacrifice, loyalty, and shared humanity to unite us,” he added.

President Tinubu concluded his message with prayers for peace and progress: “May the joy and blessings of Eid-el-Kabir multiply in our lives and in the life of our great nation. May Almighty Allah accept our worship and devotion as acts of Ibadah.”
