Presidency Denies Report On Replacement Of Chief Of Staff

The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral report claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced the Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, described the claim as a fabrication by “mischievous purveyors of fake news” aimed at creating disharmony within the government.
According to the statement, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains firmly in his position as Chief of Staff to the President, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues to serve as Principal Private Secretary. The Presidency stressed that there has been no change in either role.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely,” the statement read.
The Presidency also cautioned news media organisations and social media users to always verify information before publishing or sharing unconfirmed reports, especially on sensitive matters concerning governance and public offices.
The statement was signed by Mr Onanuga and dated December 25, 2025.
