In a shocking discovery, the Ondo State Police Command has dismantled a baby factory operating in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, arresting one Ada Clement alleged to be the mastermind behind the illicit operation.

Police spokesman, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that five pregnant underage girls were rescued during a raid on the illegal facility. One of the victims, who had already given birth to a baby boy, is currently receiving post-natal care at the General Hospital, Ore.

According to the police, the suspect ran a thriving black-market baby trade, selling female babies for N400,000 and above, and male babies for N600,000 and above.

The syndicate’s operation came to light on October 21, 2025, after a 17-year-old girl, Vivian Peter from Akwa Ibom State, escaped from the facility and reported her ordeal at the Ore Police Division. Vivian said she was lured to Ore under the pretext of securing a job, only to be taken to what she later discovered was a baby factory.

“Upon receiving her report, operatives from Ore Division, in collaboration with the gender unit, swung into action, storming the premises and rescuing five pregnant girls and a baby boy,” Ayanlade said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and her accomplices confessed to running the illegal operation, where young pregnant girls were held until delivery, and their babies subsequently sold to individuals seeking children.

The police assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and dismantle the wider trafficking network behind the operation.
