The Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed reports of a bomb explosion at the Government Hospital, Bagudo, clarifying that the early-morning incident was caused by overheating equipment, not an explosive device.

Police investigations revealed that an overheated air-conditioning unit and gas cylinders used by a refrigerator triggered the incident. Authorities stressed that it had no link to a bomb, explosive material, or any form of attack.

No lives were lost and no injuries were recorded. Damage was confined to a section of the hospital’s staff residential quarters, whose occupants were safely evacuated before the incident.

Experts from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit, working with other security agencies, confirmed that no bomb or aerial attack occurred.

The police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading misinformation, assuring residents that the situation is fully under control.
