Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau State, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Mutfwang conveyed the decision in a letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to Dasjak Sunday Longyol, chairman of the PDP in his ward.

According to the Governor, his decision to leave the party was driven by his desire for purposeful governance, clarity of direction, and improved service delivery.

The letter read: “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect.

“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process.

“I appreciate the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels during my time in the party, and I remain grateful for the trust reposed in me.

“Given the realities of the moment, and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform.

“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”

Although the governor did not disclose his next political destination, there are speculations that he may be aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
