Plant A Future Memorial Initiatives: Ife Stakeholders Urged To Immortalize Ijiwoye

Stakeholders in the affairs of Ile-Ife have been urged to immortalise the late Chief Moses Abiola Ijiwoye Adeyemo for his unflinching efforts to the development of the ancient town while alive.
A former Special Assistant to Nigerian Ambassador to China, Hon Lawrence Abayomi Adeniji, gave the charge during the official inauguration of “Plant A Future Memorial Initiatives,” PAFMI, in honour of the late Moses Abiola Ijiwoye Adeyemo, the founder of Mayfair Hotel, Ile-Ife, Osun State and the first person to run taxi and luxurious commercial bus businesses in the ancient city, who died on July 25, 2007.
The gathering on Saturday served as an avenue for testimonials on the life and times of the late Chief Moses Abiola Ijiwoye Adeyemo; one of the founding fathers of Osun State and a member of the board of trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a philanthropist, who impacted so many lives without discrimination.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the day, Hon Lawrence Abayomi Adeniji, who was the personal assistant to the late Babalaje of Ile-Ife for almost three decades, stressed that Ile-Ife owes him much appreciation for his struggles to make sure Ife became a developed city.
In her remarks, the Founder, CEO and President of Plant A Future Memorial Initiatives, Tina Ijiwoye, who spoke through her sister, Mrs Adeola Ijiwoye-Olajiga, stated that the foundation was established to immortalise their late father, who used all his life to serve God through humanity.
Tina Ijiwoye, who noted with joy that the children of the late Tobalase of Ijebuland, like their father, are committed to improving the quality of life of undeserved and often overlooked communities; explained that three Initiatives were launched in his honour, namely; Plant A Future Water For All Programme (PADWAP), Plant A Future Education Centre [PAFEC] and the relaunch of the Plant A Future Memorial Scholarship (PAFMS).
The matriarch of the family, Mama Ijiwoye, and the Baale of Elelu’s compound, Oranmiyan Street, Arubiidi, Ile-Ife, where the water project is sited, Pa Goke Olayemi, appreciated the children of the late Moses Abiola Ijiwoye-Adeyemo for deeming it fit to immortalise their late father, who they said deserved to be celebrated in all ramifications.
The late Chief Abiola Ijiwoye Adeyemo was also the Babalaje of Ile-Ife during the time of HRH, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse, the 2nd the Oni of Ife and Amuludun of Ede during the time of HRH, Oba Tijani Oladukun Timi of Ede.
The beneficiaries of the Education Centre and Water For All Programme, courtesy of Plant A Future Memorial Initiatives, included residents of Arubiidi area, while the best students of Adventist Grammar School, Our Lady’s Girls High school, St John’s Grammar School, Moremi High School, Unique of Olode Grammar School and the Department of Agricultural Economics and that of Economics Department, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife also benefitted from the scholarship scheme.
