Party Members, Lagos Residents Shun Atiku Abubakar’s Campaign Rally …”PDP Has Been Rejected By The People”-Sources

The current crisis troubling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and probably the dissatisfaction of the people with its Presidential and Governorship Candidate in the Lagos State appeared to have played out at the party’s Presidential Campaign Rally, which held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos on Monday.

It was revealed that despite the allocation of billions of naira for the Lagos rally, disappointed Atiku Abubakar spoke for a few minutes and left the venue in anger as party faithfuls and Lagos residents failed to show up.

The scanty nature of the venue, sources said, was shocking to many senior members of the party that attended the event including its National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu and the Chairman of its Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.

This was unlike the presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that took place at the 24,000 capacity Teslim Balogun stadium on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

“Teslim Balogun Stadium was filled to the brim with supporters in every inch of the available space. There was even no space to sit down, many people had to stand, some had to leave their seats because of the scorching heat.

“Everywhere choked, of course, it’s city boy doing city boy’s thing.

“Getting the TBS is an opportunity, but how do you get that venue and not even fill it properly.

“Atiku and his depleting funds have been scammed in Lagos, again. It is obvious that his cronies are not telling him the truth.

“What happened at the rally is a pointer to their rejection by Nigerians and it is a matter of time before they realise that Nigerians would never allow the PDP to get into power again at the federal level and they would not be given a chance to rule Lagos State,” said a source, who added that “the party might not get over this very soon.”
