Police operatives in Oyo State have uncovered a major security threat after recovering 40 bags of concealed explosives and arresting a truck driver during an intelligence-led operation in Saki.
The operation, which took place at the Sango area of Saki around 11:10 p.m. on January 24, led to the interception of a DAF truck with registration number OGUN SGM 765 XB. The vehicle was driven by Mutairu Yusuf, 30, from Atiru Compound, Chikanda in Kwara State.
During a search of the truck, officers discovered the explosives carefully hidden inside the vehicle. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the consignment was allegedly loaded in Ibadan and was en route to Chikanda.
Following the discovery, a joint investigation involving the Police Monitoring Unit and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) team has been launched to determine the origin of the explosives and their intended purpose.
Security agencies say further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
