Oriyomi Hamzat Assures Supporters Ahead Of Political Declaration, Calls For Calm

Media personality and political aspirant, Oriyomi Hamzat, has urged his supporters to remain calm following reports that an order had been issued preventing the provision of transportation for those planning to attend his political declaration scheduled for Saturday.
In a statement addressing the development, Hamzat said the event would go on as planned and expressed confidence that it would be successful despite the reported restrictions.
“I want everyone to calm down. By God’s grace the event on Saturday will surely hold and it will be a success. I am not angry at anyone,” he said.
Reacting to reports that buses and other means of transportation were allegedly barred from conveying supporters to the venue, Hamzat noted that while authorities may stop vehicles, they could not prevent citizens from walking.
“Thank God you can’t tell them not to walk since you refused to let buses carry them,” he stated.
However, Hamzat stressed that the safety of his supporters was paramount, particularly those who may have to trek to the venue. He made a direct appeal to security agencies, specifically the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), to ensure adequate protection.
“Nothing must happen to my supporters that will be trekking to the venue. I am specially calling on the police and the DSS, nothing must happen to those that will trek,” he said.
Hamzat also clarified that the planned gathering was not a campaign rally but a formal declaration of intention, urging that it should not be misconstrued or treated as a political campaign event.
“I am not having a campaign; this is just a declaration of intention,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not officially reacted to the claims of restrictions on transportation or Hamzat’s appeal. The declaration is expected to attract a large turnout, with supporters indicating their readiness to attend regardless of logistical challenges.
