The newly elected President of Odu’a Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Chief Wole Akinwande has commended the Federal Government on the new cash withdrawal policy, saying that it will boost the economy of the country and reduce robbery as people will stop moving around with a huge amount of money.

Akinwande made this known during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association, which took place at Cocoa House, Ibadan, where he was installed as the President of the association for the next two years.

While speaking with journalists shortly after his installation, Chief Akinwande disclosed that his administration will focus on boosting the association’s revenue and getting a befitting office for the association and above all to resuscitate and improve the annual trade fair.

He noted that the newly introduced cash withdrawal limit by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will stop people from moving huge some of money, which he said will prevent armed robbery attacks.

“People will be careful in handling cash and the policy will promote electronic banking and save the people from one place to another with huge sum of money,” he said.

Chief Akinwande further disclosed that his tenure will renew the joint trade fair and ensure a robust relationship among the states in the South West.

Earlier in her address, Iyalode Alaba Lawson urged members of the association to extend hands of fellowship to the younger generations so that they would take over from them when the time comes.

“I want to advise our members to start bringing young professionals, who are the leaders of tomorrow, and by this the association will have a succession plan for the next generation of industrialists,” he said.

Other members of the executives included Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, 1st Deputy President, Hon Olumide Arooyinbo, 2nd Deputy President, Alhaji Olufemi Hassan, Treasurer and Elder Bisi Makanjuola, the Deputy Treasurer.
