Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has ordered the demolition of Sambell community in Idoji, Okene Local Government Area of the state, following intelligence reports linking the area to criminal activities.
The directive, according to government sources, was issued after security agencies briefed the governor on findings that the location had allegedly become a hideout for criminals who use it to plan and perpetrate crimes across parts of Kogi State.
It was gathered that the decision forms part of the Ododo administration’s broader efforts to strengthen internal security, dismantle criminal networks, and restore peace in areas identified as security flashpoints. The governor was said to have stressed that his government would not tolerate the use of any community or settlement as a safe haven for criminal elements.
Security operatives have since been deployed to the area to enforce the order and ensure that the operation is carried out in line with existing security protocols. Residents were reportedly advised to cooperate with authorities as investigations continue to identify and apprehend those behind the alleged criminal activities.
Governor Ododo reiterated his commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state, assuring law-abiding citizens that the government’s actions are targeted at criminal elements and not innocent residents.
He further warned that any location found to be aiding or harbouring criminals would face similar measures, as the administration remains resolute in its zero-tolerance stance against crime and insecurity in Kogi State.
