Obaro Of Kabba, Olujumu, Badaki Appeal To Kogi Govt To Upgrade Eleta Oluyara Stool To First Class

The Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, has said that necessary quarters have been briefed on the need to promote the Eleta Oluyara stool to first class status.

Oba Owoniyi made this known at the coronation of the new Eleta Oluyara, Oba Jacob Meduteni at the weekend at Iyara, headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area.
Oba Owoniyi congratulated Oba Jacob Meduteni on his ascension, urging him to use his wealth of experience to bare in promoting peace in his domain.
The Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni on his part, described Coronation as the Tradition of enthroning a King that comes with responsibility and enjoined the people of Iyara land to give the new Oba the needed support.
“In the records of time, coronations have always held a special place as they mark the transition of power. The embody the aspirations and hopes of a people, as the weight of leadership rests upon the shoulders of a selected group.
“Today, we bestow this immense responsibility in respect of Iyara community, upon the newly coronated Eleta Oluyara. Oba (Engr.) Jacob Babatunde Meduteni, knowing that he possesses the wisdom, strength, and integrity to lead his people,” he said.
He further states that “His Royal Highness, Oba (Engr.) Jacob Babatunde Meduteni, has distinguished himself as an excellent professional. He has without doubt contributed and will continue to contribute to the development of lyara land and Kogi State at large. He has served in public service spanning many years. He is indeed a man of many parts.”

The Olujumu urged the Iyara paramount Ruler to use his position to promote peace and tranquility by carrying everyone along in the scheme of things.
“You’re expected to carry out your task with the fear of God, equity, fairness and justice which are necessary tools for leadership success,” Oba Ayeni added.
In his remarks, the President of Iyara Development Association (IDA), Alhaji Aliyu Badaki called for the upgrading of the stool of Eleta Oluyara of Iyara from second class to first class.
The President noted that among the twenty one local government headquarters in the state, only Iyara is yet to have its traditional ruler upgraded to first class status.
He appealed to the state government to look into the Eleta of Iyara stool for the sake of equity, fairness and justice.
While appreciating the Governor for the recent upgrade of the stool of Eleta Oluyara to second class, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki expressed optimism that the government will right the wrong.
Responding, Oba Jacob Meduteni thanked Iyara people for the confidence reposed in him and solicited for prayers and support.
