The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has firmly dismissed as false a viral video alleging that kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, were arrested for attempting to poison Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement shared via his official X handle, Onanuga described the claim as “fake news” deliberately fabricated to mislead the public and create unnecessary panic. He categorically stated that no staff member of the Aso Rock kitchen has been arrested and that there was no attempt to poison the President.
According to him, the video currently circulating on social media platforms is entirely false and should be disregarded by members of the public.
“There is no truth whatsoever in the story. No Aso Rock kitchen staff has been arrested. No one attempted to poison the President. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by the video,” Onanuga clarified.
The presidential aide warned against the spread of unverified information, noting that such malicious fabrications are aimed at undermining public trust and stoking unnecessary fear.
He urged citizens to rely on credible sources for information concerning the Presidency and national security matters, stressing that the Tinubu administration remains focused on governance and service to the Nigerian people.
The clarification comes amid heightened concerns over misinformation on social media, with officials reiterating the need for responsible digital engagement and verification before sharing sensitive claims.
