Nigeria Nears 100% Oil Pipeline Receipts As NNPC Credits Security Forces for Major Breakthrough

Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, says Nigeria is now recording nearly 100 percent pipeline and terminal crude oil receipts — a milestone he attributed to the combined efforts of the nation’s security forces and intelligence agencies.
Speaking on Monday at the 2025 African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit, Ojulari recalled that pipeline deliveries once fell as low as 20 to 30 percent due to sabotage, theft, and vandalism. He said the turnaround reflects the professionalism, discipline, and collaboration of Nigeria’s defence and security institutions.
“Today, I can proudly report that our pipelines and terminal crude oil receipts, which were once drastically reduced, are now attaining close to 100 percent. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our security forces and intelligence agencies,” Ojulari stated.
He reaffirmed NNPC’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the military and relevant agencies, noting that stronger collaboration has already curbed sabotage, crude theft, piracy, illegal refineries, and bunkering.
Ojulari also urged African defence chiefs to expand regional and continental security frameworks, leveraging modern policies, tools, and technologies to foster seamless cross-border collaboration.
According to him, safeguarding Africa’s resources requires collective effort, which will in turn strengthen peace and unlock prosperity across the continent.
“The oil and gas sector stands ready to complement this effort and deliver benefits that uplift citizens across borders,” he assured.
