Ned Nwoko: I Pity Men With One Wife… It’s Like Standing On One Leg

Businessman and senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has sparked social media debate with his latest remarks endorsing polygamy and describing men with only one wife as “standing on one leg.”
Speaking in a recent interview, Nwoko said he had no regrets about his polygamous lifestyle, insisting that marrying multiple women was both natural and fulfilling.
“I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it is difficult to stand on one leg,” he said. “I have no regrets. I will do the same thing again. This is the way it is. Marrying beautiful women and young ones — that’s the way it should be. You should marry who you want to marry.”
The billionaire politician, who is married to multiple wives including actress Regina Daniels, has long defended polygamy as part of African cultural tradition and a personal choice.
His latest comments have once again stirred reactions online, with critics accusing him of promoting outdated gender norms, while supporters applauded his boldness and cultural pride.
Some social commentators described Nwoko’s statement as “provocative,” arguing that such views reinforce patriarchy and objectify women. Others, however, defended his stance, saying polygamy remains an accepted and legal practice in many parts of Nigeria.
Nwoko, 64, is known for his flamboyant lifestyle, philanthropy, and outspoken personality. Beyond his marital views, he has often used his platform to discuss cultural identity, youth empowerment, and social responsibility.
While his comments have divided public opinion, they have also reignited national conversation about the evolving meaning of marriage, gender roles, and modern African values in a rapidly changing society.
