NDLEA Files Forfeiture Suit Against Pretty Mike’s Lagos Nightclub Over ‘Drug Party’

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed a forfeiture suit against Proxy Night Club, a Lagos entertainment spot owned by socialite Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, following its recent raid during a so-called “drug party.”
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja during the agency’s annual commendation and award ceremony, where 15 senior officers were decorated and several personnel honoured for outstanding performance.
The club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, was stormed by NDLEA operatives between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday after intelligence indicated that flyers had been circulated inviting guests to a “drug party.” Over 100 attendees were arrested, including the club owner and his manager, Joachin Milary.
According to the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, undercover officers infiltrated the venue, made pre-purchases of illicit substances, and monitored activities for several hours before the raid.
The operation led to the recovery of 384.886 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, and other illicit substances from the club’s storage area.
Marwa said the forfeiture action followed evidence that the club “brazenly advertised” a drug party, openly encouraging drug use among patrons.
“In Nigeria, the possession and use of drugs by persons or on premises is illegal. We are the drug law enforcement agency, and it is our duty to enforce the law,” he stated.
“We will not allow a culture of impunity such as this to evolve. If you allow one, in two or three weeks, every nightclub in the country will invite people to drug parties. We will not permit that.”
He further warned club owners, hoteliers, and facility managers nationwide that their properties risk forfeiture if found to be used for drug-related activities.
“All club owners, hoteliers, and the like should know that their properties are at risk of forfeiture if used for criminal drug activities. We will certainly make an example of this particular club in Lagos,” he said.
Highlighting NDLEA’s achievements over the last 30 months, Marwa said the agency has:
- Arrested 45,853 suspects,
- Seized over 8.5 million kilograms of assorted illicit drugs,
- Secured 9,263 convictions, and
- Rehabilitated 26,613 drug users across its treatment facilities nationwide.
He added that NDLEA also conducted 9,848 War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns in schools, workplaces, markets, motorparks, churches, mosques, and communities during the same period.
Marwa commended NDLEA personnel for their dedication and professionalism despite challenges, noting that the agency’s reward and recognition system has continued to boost morale and enhance operational outcomes.
