NAF Debunks Reports of Aircraft Impoundment in Burkina Faso
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dismissed circulating reports claiming that one of its C-130 aircraft was forced to land and subsequently impounded by the authorities in Burkina Faso for allegedly violating the country’s airspace.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, the Air Force clarified that the aircraft’s diversion on 8 December 2025 was a routine safety precaution.
According to the statement, the C-130 was en route to Portugal on a ferry mission when the crew detected a technical issue shortly after departing Lagos. In line with standard safety procedures and international aviation protocols, the crew opted for a precautionary landing at the nearest airfield—Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.
The NAF confirmed that all crew members are safe and have been treated with courtesy by Burkina Faso’s authorities. Arrangements are already in progress to continue the mission as planned.
