Minister Umahi Addresses Concerns Over Ondo/Ore Road Construction

The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has responded to concerns raised by Dr. Akinola Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa, a prominent APC chieftain in Ondo State, regarding the quality of wire mesh used in the ongoing construction of the Ondo/Ore Road.
Dr. Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa got in touch with the Honourable Minister of Works as a result of the uproar the road had generated due to the mesh wire used.
According to Minister Umahi, the wire mesh used on the outer shoulders of the road is a standard practice globally, and the design adheres to international standards.
He explained that the main carriageway requires heavy reinforcement due to high flexural stresses from continuous traffic, while the outer shoulders experience minimal load and can use lighter wire meshes.
The Ondo/Ore Road project, spanning 86.43 km from Ore to Akure, is designed to last over 50 years and utilizes Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology.
According to him, the road features a 7.3-meter main carriageway and 2.75-meter shoulders on each side.
Minister Umahi praised Dr. Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa, saying, the APC chieftain has acted responsibly as a partner in progress.”
The minister assured that the road’s structural integrity is intact and that the construction follows global best practices.
The development has brought relief to citizens and stakeholders in Ondo State, who have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the project.
With the minister’s assurance, it is expected that the road will meet the required standards and serve the people of Ondo State for many years
