Former Member, House of Representatives and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kogi State, Hon Durosinmi Meseko has lashed out at critics of Prof Ibrahim Gambari over his appointment as Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari describing them as doubting Thomases who would never see any good in anybody.

He wondered how any patriotic mind would overlook the globally rich experience of Gambari and resort to petty accusations that hold no water.
Hon Meseko said as far as he was concerned, Gambari,s appointment remains one of the best appointments of the Buhari Administration.

“No sooner had the news broke on Monday that Professor Ibrahim Gambari had been appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as his new Chief of Staff than critics with long knives bared their pangs on the social media airwaves deriding the appointment! How else can one explain this? Are they saying Professor Gambari is not qualified for the position? No, they are not saying that. In fact most of them agreed that he’s a round peg in a round hole but that they harbour personal animosities against him! When are we going to stop this pull-him-down syndrome in this country?”.

Hon Meseko who was a student of Professor Gambari in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria described him as a humble, versatile and hardworking lecturer with the interest of his students at heart. He enjoined detractors to allow the eminent scholar settle down to business by disembarking from their voyage of distraction.

“I make bold to say that Prof(Gambari) will not disappoint Nigerians on this job. He possesses all the attributes that would ensure his success on the job. All he needs is our prayers and support”.

According to the APC chieftain, Gambari’s appointment could not have come at a better time than this when the whole world is grasping with the vexed issue of Covid-19.

The appointment is coming at a time when International diplomacy is at the heart of global engagements owing to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Professor Gambari no doubt fits perfectly into the billings”, he declared.
