The former Governor Elect of Bayelsa State in the November 2019 elections, His Excellency, Chief David Pereworomini Lyon, has paid a visit to Nembe City to condole with the people of the area over the killings of their illustrious sons and daughters in recent attacks on the town.

Lyon briefly stopped over at the motherless baby home along Yenagoa Ayama Road enroute the city on his way from Abuja.

Lyon went on the visit alongside Chief Patrick Osunu, High-Chief Omiebi Fuoebi; Barr Marlin Daniel; Chief Salvation Tuesday; Hon Jothan Amos; Hon Caroline Sata Owugha; and a few others.

Chief David Lyon encouraged and prayed with the people of Opu-Nembe and Nembe City, all of the Nembe LGA Bayelsa State and asked God Almighty God not to allow a repeat of the incidents in the land.

“What the people of Nembe need is peace and development at this point when everyone is clamoring for a positive change.

“We will continue to encourage you in our own little way to ensure that there is relatively peace in the land,” he said.

Lyon however, condemned the killings in Nembe communities, while urging security agents to step-up their activities and provide adequate security for the people of the area.

According to him, “our people don’t deserve to die like chickens. This is one area we will focus on in our government if we are given the opportunity to serve the people.

“There should be plans to provide adequate security for our people and we believe that this can be done with determination on the part of the state government and the co-operation of the members of the communities.”

He later awarded scholarships to the first sons and daughters of the victims of the incidents through his foundation.

Chief David Lyon and his entourage were later warmly welcomed by the people of Bayelsa after the successful submission of his Intent/Nomination form at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.
