LG Primary In Eti Osa East LCDA: Tinubu Urged To Intervene In Marginalisation Of Female Vice Chairmanship Aspirant

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to prevail on stakeholders and the party’s Central Senatorial District Reconciliation Committee to review the marginalisation of the only female aspirant in the LCDA.
A member of the party, Mr. Jerry Ogunyemi, made the call at a press conference, which held on Monday in the area, to express the need for the intervention of the leaders of the party to ensure that Hon Balogun Rashidat Fadewe is giving her ticket to contest for the Vice Chairmanship position of the LCDA.
Ogunyemi maintained that Fadewe has made immense contributions to herald even development in the area as a ward councillor in 2008 and that till date, she still tries her best to better the lots of the people of the area, saying that she is the right person for the job.
Another member of the party, Assistant Venerable Superior Babatunde Joseph (JP), stated that Fadewe and members of her family were instrumental to the provision of lands for the construction of the existing primary healthcare centre, a modern market and a secondary school in the area.
He added that given her commitments geared towards ensuring the wellbeing of the people, Fadewe remains a popular choice of the people and called on President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu to intervene and help ensure that her mandate is restored.
“Save us from the continued servitude women suffer in Eti-Osa East LCDA, women have been dispossessed of many opportunities here.
“They have been tools in our hands, especially during electioneering periods, they go extra miles for our party, even in areas where men cannot penetrate.
“It is time to consider one of our women from Ward C in Eti-Osa East LCDA, Hon. Balogun Rashidat Fadewe for a top position in the LCDA.
“Our First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu always calls for inclusion of the women in the political landscape, this is another basis for us to do that.
“Having been congratulated as the vice chairmanship candidate of the APC in the area, Fadewe was told to get ready, but suddenly the story changed and we heard that her name was substituted.
“Elsewhere, wherever you have a male as chairman, the vice is usually a female and where a female is chairman, a male is the vice chairman to ensure balance.
“In our case, it is the contrary, a civil servant was asked to hurriedly resign to take up the ticket. We were told this was done by another camp in the party, which bragged that they have already shared the slots amongst themselves from chairman to secretary to the local government before the primary.
“We urge President Tinubu to prevail on them so that the right thing can be done here,” he said.
A group of women, who were cladded in branded capes-with inscriptions “Women More- More Women,” also added that most of the exco positions from the zone to the wards and the LGA levels were shared amongst the men.
Modinat Imambanni, the Secretary of Ward C, Adebisi Agunbiade the Woman Leader of Ward C and Blessing Onoja from Ward E all called for better representation of women in the area.
“We plead with President Tinubu and his wife, Yeye Oluremi Tinubu to intervene in our matter and rescue us from the stranglehold of our polity by men.
“Hon Balogun Rashidat Fadewe has been there for us ever since she was a councillor. She contested the primary as the only female, she prides high the interest of the party and has been 100 percent loyal.
“Women should not be allowed to be muscled here. Fadewe is the one we want, we should not be deprived of this singular opportunity that can better transform our lives.
“The civil servant they substituted her name with is not known to us. He has no connections with the grassroots like Alhaja Fadewe, her name signals development and our children now have a school within our locality because of her.
“In the past, our people who needed healthcare traveled as far as Badore, and Ajah before they could access healthcare facilities, all thanks to Alhaja Fadewe, our PHC here is now functional.
“With the support of her family, she released an acre of land to the government, where Folashade Tinubu Ojo Modern Market was constructed,” she said.
Hon Balogun Rashidat Fadewe however, made an appeal to the leaders of the party as a committed party member to help review the situation.
“I am crying and pleading that President Tinubu should intervene in this matter.
“We must not allow our women to fight before they get anything,” Fadewe pleaded.
