Latest On CBN Director, Isiaka Gbadamosi’s N7 Billion Scandal “It Is Mere Blackmail” – His Friends Speak

Cover seenFriends of the Director of Trade and Exchange Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olakanmi Isiaka Gbadamosi has described as untrue the allegation that investigators combing the books of the Apex Bank stumbled on N7billion in one of his accounts.
The allegation, which was published in this magazine few weeks back, was said to be a figment of the imagination of his enemies, who they said are jealous of his closeness to the immediate past governor of the CBN, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who has since been appointed as the Emir of Kano.
According to his friends and associates, who spoke with us on the phone, Mr. Gbadamosi had since investigated over the matter, and given a clean bill of health and that the whole thing bothers on blackmail.
His friends told us last week that the matter is part of the scheming for 2015, and that some top staffers of the bank are being persecuted so that they could be shown the way out of the bank soon.
We were made to understand that Mr. Gbadamosi has paid his dues over the years in the Apex Bank and that he is part of the team of top officers that are re-positioning the bank to meet the current demands in the country.
“We were surprised to read the story about our friend. This is a man, whose records of probity and accountability are there for everyone to see. He knows his onions in the bank and he is one of the few directors that are trusted by the bank’s management. There is no way he could be involved in any fraudulent activity and I can boldly tell you that this blackmail will not work. People have tried to soil his name in the past, but he came out clean,” one of his friends, who simply gave his name as Mr. T, told us on the phone.
Another admirer and close associate of the top banker, explained that Nigeria needs people like Mr. Gbadamosi to move the country forward at this material time, and that Gbadamosi has paid his dues for the nation, adding “those peddling the rumour are jobless set of people, who can never see anything good in being patriotic.”
Indeed, reliable sources confirmed that Mr. Olakanmi Gbadamosi has served the bank meritoriously and diligently for many years and it was also confirmed that he didn’t deserve the kind of blackmail that gave rise to such a story.
