Lagos State University ranked as best university in Nigeria – Another feather in Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s cap | Babajide Fadoju

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s determination to prioritize the development of the education sector in the state has again yielded yet another great accomplishment.

This time, his great works have brought the Lagos State University (LASU) into the limelight and international recognition in the recent world university ranking’s list by green metrics giving LASU a first appearance as no. 799 out of the total global entries of a thousand and fifty (1050) universities in the world and placing the university as the best in Nigeria and 15th best in the whole of Africa with Edo State university ranking 1012 position and second best university Nigeria for the year 2022.

This is all thanks to Babajide Sanwo -Olu’s passion towards ensuring that the Educational sector of Lagos state becomes one worthy of emulation not only by other Nigerian states but also by countries in Africa and the world at large.

Such great goals would be totally impossible to achieve without zealous people who share similar ideas.

It is without doubt that the educational sector of Lagos state has continued to operate in great dimensions and accomplishments with the help of the special Adviser to Lagos state governor on education Mr Tokunbo Wahab.

His great impact became apparent with the introduction of the Eko Excel followed by the recent certificates collected for the two new Lagos state universities at the NUC in Abuja and also his great investment in capacity development.

He created an avenue to effectively equip the managers of tertiary institutions in Lagos state and produce beneficial materials, ensuring that they all attended a Higher Education Business Government collaboration conference at the university of London thereby creating a foundation for more growth at the Educational sector.

Tokunbo Wahab has so far proven to be very resourceful in Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet with his numerous ground-breaking exploits and has also continued to prove right the mutual goal shared between Babajide Sanwo-Olu and himself that education should be the best avenue for corporate, regional and self development.

This duo have continued to draw admirations from the upper echelon of power and most importantly, admirers at the grassroots, proudly raising the standard of Education in Lagos state as well as the rest of Africa.

Other visible impacts of the state governor on the Educational sector includes the commissioning of various school infrastructure projects leading to the completion of over 1,000 projects across 970 schools in the state within the space of two years.

These projects include a block of 18 classrooms with administrative offices, impressively equipped library, toilet, laboratory blocks and borehole each at Fazil Omar Senior High School, Iwaya Onike girls high school, Igbobi Junior College and Akintan Junior Grammar School.

These great investments have in time past yielded really positive results through improved performance of students in both national and international competitions as well as general class exams.

The students have also greatly improved public speaking confidence, etiquette and morals consistently emerging overall best at competitions and proudly representing Nigeria at any given opportunity.

Some of the international competitions where they have proudly represented Nigeria in time past are, the International Robotics competition, 2021 National Junior Engineers, Technicians and scientists competition (JETS) winning 11 medals and 10 cups in various categories, the Maltina School Games winning 21 gold medals.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Administration has not only focused on the students but also efficiently equipped their teachers with the necessary trainings with proper teaching aids through his THEMES Agenda, yearly budgetary increase in allocation, investing in new schools, construction of nee school buildings and upgrade of existing ones, completion of outstanding projects and integrating technology into teaching and learning processes under a very conducive environment.

All of these can be said to be just the beginning as more is yet to come from the Duo’s numerous innovations and ideas for the Educational sector of Lagos state.
