The iconic verdict passed by the federal high court, Kano on 3rd June 2020, stamping for the reinstatement of the five suspended lawmakers, under the frontline leads of ex-majority leader, Hon. Labaran Abdul Madari from Warawa constituency, has stirred a hornets from its nests.

The suspension branded by the presiding judge Louis Alagoua as unconstitutional, null and void, directed the Speaker and the Kano State House of Assembly to pay salaries and allowances of the suspended members.

While the house leadership, was seemingly not pleased with the court verdict, and vowed to appealed the case as officially overheard through its trumpet, and incumbent majority leader, Hon. Kabiru Hassan Dashi from Kiru constituency.

Undoubtedly, the present tug-of-war and underground rivalry currently rocking Kano state ninth assembly, under the leadership of two-time Speaker, Rt. Gafasa, was deep-seated and it doesn’t come as a surprise to many.

More especially to those who are surveying the Kano assembly politics through the lens of self-inflicted interest and power-seeking supremacy.

Since the investiture of 9th assembly on 10th June, 2019 the house was run under the stewardship of three most powerful lawmakers, including; ex- majority leader, Hon. Abdul Madari, deputy speaker, Hon. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari and the second most luckiest, two-time lawmaker to assume the most prestigious throne of speakership, Rt. Hon. Abdulaziz Gafasa respectively.

As time goes on, the dices continued to turn round in a flourishing platform between the state executive and the state house of law-making, which paved the way for hitch-free, sign on arrival bills in order to make the journey mutually beneficial to both parties.

Now, with the regards to recent court verdict of five law-makers reinstatement along with reimbursement of salaries, emoluments and all their entitlements covering the period of the suspension, as anonymously reported , the verdict has plunged the house into another fresh dispute.

The dispute, with regard to the reinstatement has sent jittery all over, which has prompted the house leadership, resorted to appeal the case, challenging the previous court verdict for vindicating the embattled members from coming back to house floor in alleged apprehension of what might be the eventual outcome.

Reliably confirmed details said that in a nearby future, the house would resume it normal plenary, both sides are presently having sleepless night, running from pillar to post, in a sheer unpredictable situation currently looming within the Kano legislative domain.

As a modern adage goes saying, “contemporary politics is a market of self-inflicted interest” everybody steps his own dance to suit the fashionable rhythm”

The dusts are billows up to the sky, daggers are unsheathed, red line are drawn at the center, only God knows who would be the last man left standing among the three most influential members of polarized Kano State Assembly!
