Kano Police Save Alleged Blasphemy Suspect From Lynching As Mob Storms Hotel

The Kano State Police Command has rescued a man from an angry mob following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of the state capital.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on December 21 at Sarina Hotel, located in Badawa Quarters. A distress call alerted security operatives to a rapidly escalating situation at the premises.
According to the sources, three men—identified as Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim and Soja Snu, all residents of Dorayi Quarters—had visited the hotel to smoke shisha. During the visit, one of them, Musa Tasiu, allegedly entered the hotel’s mosque, broke the glass door, picked up a copy of the Holy Qur’an and tore it.
The alleged act reportedly enraged people within and around the hotel, who quickly mobilised in large numbers. Tasiu was said to be on the verge of being lynched before police intervention.
A patrol team attached to the division responded swiftly to the distress call, rescued the suspect from the mob and restored calm to the area. Security presence was reinforced to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Police sources confirmed that the situation has since been brought under control, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
