Former Director-General of the Tinubu Support Groups and Member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has formally announced his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Jibrin made the declaration on Sunday in his hometown of Kofa, Kano State, before a large gathering of supporters and over 2,000 Islamic clerics (Ulamas), who offered special prayers for his return to the ruling party and for President Tinubu’s continued success in office.

In an emotional address, Jibrin announced his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, led by former Kano State Governor, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

He said his decision was guided by reflection and consultations with his constituents, who overwhelmingly resolved to return to the APC and support President Tinubu’s leadership.

“In a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano,” Jibrin said. “The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term in office.”

Jibrin further revealed that prayers were offered by the clerics for the peace, unity, and progress of his constituency, Kano State, and Nigeria at large.

The former lawmaker, a prominent political figure in Kano politics, had previously served as a key campaign strategist for President Tinubu before parting ways with the APC in the build-up to the 2023 elections.

His return is expected to strengthen the ruling party’s base in Kano State, a strategic battleground ahead of the 2027 general elections.
