Iyara Cultural Day 2025 Holds October 25

The Central Planning Committee (CPC) of Iyara Cultural Day has fixed Saturday, October 25, 2025 for this year’s celebration of the community’s rich cultural heritage.

The date was announced in a joint statement by the National President of the Iyara Development Association (IDA), Dr. Aliyu Badaki, and the Director General of Iyara Cultural Day, Mr. Samuel Olorundare, after a virtual meeting of the committee. According to the statement, preparations are in top gear to ensure a colourful and memorable event.

The annual celebration, held in Iyara — headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State — showcases the indigenous traditions of the community. This year’s programme will also feature the launch of a ?250 million appeal fund to support various community development projects.

Prominent Nigerians from within and outside Kogi State, including traditional rulers and distinguished sons and daughters of the community, are expected to attend.

Highlights will include Are Iyawo (a traditional marriage ceremony of old), displays by masquerades, and performances from cultural troupes.

The statement further noted that the celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Captain Smart Olaiya Civic Centre, Iyara. A raffle draw, which remains one of the main attractions, has been repackaged to offer more prizes for spectators and lovers of Iyara culture.

Raffle ticket sales will commence soon in Iyara, Lokoja, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ilorin, and other IDA branches nationwide.
