Investigation: Viral Report Of Osun Court Ordering Lady To Pay N150k To Boyfriend Is False
A recent news report claimed that a magistrate court in Ilesa, Osun state, purportedly ordered one Rhoda Adu to pay N150,000 as damages for failing to visit her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, after collecting transport fare from him.
The viral report claimed that Adu collected N3,000 from Sola for transport fares for the visit but failed to do so.
According to the report, the purported judgment was delivered by Akogun Oludare, a magistrate.
The report elicited varied reactions on social media as some users commended the purported judgment of the magistrate court.

Checks revealed that the report has been online since 2023. However, the incident purportedly happened in Enugu state in this case.
The same story resurfaced again in March 2024 and was reported by some online news platforms and blogs as a new report.
In the 2024 report, the boyfriend was identified as Emeka Nwankwo, and the girlfriend was named Chinasa Nwibeh.
Nwankwo was said to have also given Nwibeh the sum of N3,000 as transport fare to visit him.
The report claimed that the judge purportedly ordered Nwibeh to pay N100,000 as a fine and an additional N50,000 as interest for the emotional damage caused to the boyfriend — the same narrative as the Osun report.
VERDICT
The claim that an Osun magistrate court ordered a lady to pay N150k as damages to her boyfriend is false. The report is an old narrative that is being recirculated online as new.
