Residents of Alausa in Ikeja, Lagos State, have applauded the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Mr Abisola Omisore, for his food distribution initiative during the yuletide.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the distribution exercise which began on Dec. 23, ended on Dec. 25, and benefited hundreds of Lagos residents.

Speaking during the exercise, Omisore described the initiative as a modest way of giving back to the people, and sharing in the joy of the festive period.

He said that the gesture also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as the Ikeja political Agenda, which both emphasises a people-centred governance.

Omisore acknowledged that although the relief package could not get to every household, he expressed confidence that it would provide meaningful support to the beneficiaries during the yuletide.

He urged residents, particularly youths, to remain calm and peaceful throughout the festive period, while emphasising the importance of unity and social harmony.

“This is one of the little ways we can bring relief to the residents especially at this festive season, by given them needed items to celebrate the season.

“We are concerned about the residents’ welfare and that is why we are given hundreds of rice packages to the people to celebrate with,” he said.

Meanwhile, reacting to the gesture, an octogenarian who benefited from the initiative, Mrs Seliat Bashiru, thanked Omisore for his kindness.

Bashiru said that the food items would go a long way to cater for her family during the festive season.

“We really appreciate the vice chairman for his kindness to the residents and we pray God continue to bless him in his political career,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Mr Sodiq Adebayo, also thanked the vice chairman for his care and kindness to residents during the festive period.

He said that he was happy that the relief items came at such crucial time, adding that it will go a long way to cater for his family this festive season. (NAN)
